Mainers “by choice” since 1970’s and 80’s. John was a custom designer/builder of fine homes. Dee was one of the founders of The Borealis Press – a publishing company known to this day for it’s witty cards. These days Dee manages vacation rentals in Surry and John does his best to retire. In 2020 they built for themselves a Net Zero Passive Solar Home that strives to create more energy than it uses. And, for the most part, succeeds.

This cottage is about 30 feet away from the studio. The Surry property has been in Dee’s family since the 1960’s.

They live with their enormous 20 lb rescue cat, Double Paw, and very gentle German Shepherd pup Kai.
